Russell Middle School guarantees each student develops ownership of personal excellence by demonstrating positive character traits and mastering academic knowledge and skills through effective instructional practices designed to challenge all students in a safe, supportive, world-class environment.
Opening in 1994, Russell Middle School continues a proud tradition of excellence over 22 years later. Recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1999, RMS's sustained and ongoing focus on student and staff achievement and engagement is evident in all aspects of our school community.
Earning the Bronze award from the National Alliance for a Healthier Generation in both 2014 and 2015 points to our renewed efforts to focus on student and staff wellness. Additionally, Russell Middle School is one of only 525 schools in the U.S. (and only 7 in Nebraska) recognized by first lady, Michelle Obama in 2015 as a Let's Move! Active School.
Russell Middle School staff easily describe each other as 'family' and we proudly celebrate a positive school culture that is student-first and solution-based.
Russell Middle School really is the best place to learn and grow everyday!
